This video was taken by the Royal Airforce aboard their Nimrod search and rescue aircraft as they locate Jack Nye 300 miles west of Ireland as he was sailing solo from Halifax Nova Scotia aboard his 32ft Commet 1000 – Panderama. After a total rollover and broken mast, Jack was rescued by the container ship Atlantic Companion under the command of Captain Karl Westrup.

This is the intended voyage of the Atlantic Companion – from Liverpool to Halifax. The weather conditions and resulting course deviation of the 958 ft container ship resulted in my fortunate rescue and amazingly, return right back to my point of departure.
